Keep Away from Wine

The craze of adopting western culture in terms of food and drink has ruined the health of modern society in India, mainly in the Bombay district. Drinking beer is fashionable for them as modernization drifts towards the non-vegetarian society.

A liking for non-vegetarian food is now very common among the young generation who take it for granted that wine and beer work as good digestive supplements to the non-vegetarian diet.

I am writing this while I am on my study tour of health care in Britain, where the majority of citizens are non-vegetarians and have adopted wine and beer as their usual domestic drinks.

England is a 75% cool climate country. India is not. A particular society in India, very much in the minority, had been non-vegetarian due to the availability of such food. Alcoholic drinks like wine and beer were brought to India by the British when they ruled in the last century. Very little wine was used in Indian prior to that era but now it is in abundance with the so-called civilized society. It is not the need, but the current fashion or craze.

Indians who had never tasted nor even had the smell of non-vegetarian food or alcoholic drink while living in India, have now adopted both due to settling in overseas countries like Kenya, USA, Dubai and – mainly – in the UK.

On whatever basis or belief they have adopted the trend is not my worry at this juncture, but I am here to warn all those who consume junk food and alcohol on a daily basis, that these foods are the cause of bowel cancer.

Even the doctors in England have issued a strict warning that just a small glass of wine or a pint of beer on a regular basis raises the risk of bowel cancer.

After completing a thorough study of the issue, the experts have revealed that more than 15000 people in Great Britain alone die of bowel cancer every year.

The addicts of alcoholic drinks, including beer, are obviously more at risk. The researchers have openly warned users that the more alcohol they drink, the greater is the risk of developing bowel cancer.

Apart from the killer disease bowel cancer, I have also noticed an increase in the number of cases of mouth cancer in both men and women, and breast cancer in women.

In countries like Great Britain, drinking wine and beer in very limited quantities could be considered safe due to the climatic conditions. If non-vegetarians maintained a safe level of drinking, it could be beneficial to the digestion. Likewise with non-smokers, but of course smokers must always be on the alert.

However, health care is more important than fashion or craze. The Hindu religion’s ban on alcoholic drink and non-vegetarian foods for their followers has some sense. It is not merely a special sin, but surely it is a denial of health care for good citizens.
